My Morning Routine 101: The Best 4-Ingredient Breakfast

Anytime I read “quick, easy breakfast,” or “5-ingredient dinner,” my brain becomes skeptical. However, I’ve found a meal to eat in the morning that is literally four ingredients and is something I eat Monday-Friday: vanilla overnight oats.

I was first introduced to overnight oats when I was at Disney World. It happened to be something on the menu at our hotel, All-Star Music, so I tried it. Never before had I consumed cold oats, but I figured I’d give it a shot as it sounded healthy and it included one of my favorite flavors – vanilla. After trying it and loving it, I decided to explore some recipes when I returned home. Here is what I settled on:

½ cup overnight oats

½ cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

¼ cup lowfat vanilla Greek yogurt

1 teaspoon chia seeds

Combine the above ingredients in a container with a lid and put them in the fridge overnight. In the morning, I top the oats with blueberries and raspberries. It’s delicious!

The four things I like most about this 4-ingredient breakfast:

  1. It’s easy. Enough said. I don’t want to spend time doing too much prep or turning on the oven because I will always worry I didn’t turn it off before leaving for work. This only takes a few minutes the night before to put together.
  2. It’s filling. I can make it to lunch comfortably, without my stomach growling uncontrollably. (This recipe is also easy to cut in half if you want an even lighter breakfast).
  3. It genuinely tastes delicious. I love the flavor and the texture of the meal. It pairs well with a hot cup of coffee that I enjoy while getting ready for the day.
  4. It’s healthy. I feel I’m putting better ingredients in my body than when I would make Funfetti pancakes (but hey, nothing wrong with those every once in awhile!).

What’s your go-to breakfast for workdays?
