Welcome to ProfashionalPhd — a community to celebrate our unique professional-fashionable ensemble creations.

During the first day of class I always have my students introduce themselves, so I’ll do the same. Here is a little bit about me:

  • Assistant Professor who teaches strategic social media and interpersonal communication courses
  • Ph.D. in Communication Media & Instructional Technology
  • Researches the impact social media have on romantic relationships
  • Loves a profashional (professional & fashionable) wardrobe that’s humbly ostentatious
  • Gets style inspiration from Blair Waldorf (Gossip Girl), Samantha Jones (SATC), the ladies of Selling Sunset, and Britney Spears circa Y2K
  • Favorite brands include Alice + Olivia, Ann Taylor, Chanel, Christian Louboutin, Express, Farm Rio, Gucci, Juicy Couture, Jimmy Choo, Lilly Pulitzer, LoveShackFancy

Why did I start this blog?

  1. I frequently have students, friends, and family ask about my outfit creations so I wanted to create a public space where I can share my ideas.
  2. I want to connect with others who share similar style or can open my eyes to something new!
  3. I love writing and creating.

I adore fashion. I am not just a “shoe girl” or a “purse girl.” I love putting together an entire ensemble.

I desire to infuse glamour, sparkle, and some fun into my professional pieces. Wanting to display a fashionable and professional wardrobe has morphed into the idea of a “pro-FASHION-al” [Profashional] wardrobe.

My hope is to solidify the idea that “work clothes” do not need to only include black pants and white blouses (but there’s also nothing wrong with those staple pieces!).

With this community, I ultimately wish to develop a catalog of my creations in hopes of connecting with others who also hold the philosophy of a profashional sense of style.
